We starting alpaca farming in 1998 and we were one of the first alpaca farms in Ontario. It has been a wonderful journey and I still love heading out to the barn every morning...alpacas are delightful animals to look after. Now we are focused on products from alpaca fleece rather than selling animals. After shearing in May I sort the fleece carefully into the different grades to produce the nicest yarn. The fleece is then spun into yarn at a small mill in Ontario. When the yarn returns here it is washed and some of it is dyed. I dye only 4 skeins at a time, using a large syringe to produce mostly subtley variegated colours with a lot of depth of colour. I have developed some patterns suitable for using one skein of yarn.
